During these unprecedented times, I want to personally update you on what we are doing here at Ma Dwyer’s in order to ease some of the concern and uncertainty you may have about any travel plans you have made or would like to make in the near future.
On 27th March 2020, our Taoiseach announced that our country would enter a period of lockdown. The heavy but necessary restrictions put in place for the safety and protection of our population meant that travel and tourism was not permitted. Fortunately, during this period of heavy restrictions, Ma Dwyer’s was permitted to remain open to provide accommodation to those working on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19, namely the doctors, nurses and other frontline workers that work tirelessly to keep us all safe. We take huge pride in being selected by the Health Service Executive as a trusted support to these essential workers. It was our privilege to be a ‘home away from home’ during this crisis. We are also delighted that due to the hard work and dedication of our staff, we have reported no cases of the virus on our premises.
Before I explain the measures that we have put in place to accomplish our goal of zero cases of the virus, I want to explain that our absolute priority is the safety of our guests and our team of staff. We have always maintained the highest standards of hygiene throughout the building but we have now elevated those standards even further. As you move through the building, you will see sanitising stations and notices encouraging you to social distance. These are placed at key points upon entry and exit and at areas that are most appropriate. We have managed to implement changes without diminishing the atmosphere and exceptional service that we have always offered our guests. So, you will still enjoy the same comfortable and relaxing experience you have always felt while staying with us.
On a daily basis, we work to ensure we meet the latest guidance on hygiene and cleaning. Our cleaning policies and procedures are designed to not only remove the threat of COVID-19, but a broad range of contagions. Our staff are fully trained on hygiene measures, infection prevention and control and the safe and appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment.
We will be practicing social distancing in our dining area at all times. For your comfort, we now offer a take-away breakfast option. For guests who prefer to dine with us, all breakfasts will be cooked-to-order and will be delivered to a pick up point in the dining area which is sanitised after each use. This means that you won’t have to speak to us through screens or visors.
Our guest-rooms will be cleaned and thoroughly sanitised between guests and the room will remain vacant and ventilated for a sufficient amount of time. Our staff will not enter your room for the duration of your stay unless they are specifically requested to do so by you. We have given our guests that control in order to provide an enhanced feeling of protection. Complimentary room refreshments, fresh towels etc will simply be requested by dialling reception.
Over the past number of months, we have gained invaluable experience in managing this virus while maintaining our renowned warm welcome. Guests can expect the same wonderful Irish hospitality and a safe experience while staying with us.
We look forward to welcoming you soon.
